Origin: Iran (Persia) - City  of Nain

Type:Finely woven Silk Based  Part Silk Nain rug.

Size:2,71m X 1,56m

Description:Woven in Nain, a small city between Isapahan and Yazd, this 'Bandi' or repeating design is a composition of Bidjar and Shah Abassi motifs.

Set against a pale blue ground, each palmette with attendant leaves and  blossoms is highlighted in a silver white framing of silk and anchored in  floral rosettes spaced in even rows of palmettes. Against an ivory field and in sets known as stereo circle Eslimi, palmettes fill the main border. The inner and outer guards are crowded with dainty multiple floral motifs and chain  spirals. As in most Nain designs, the colours are soft and intricately  harmonized.

Rugs and carpets of this excellence found favour and purchase in the Courts  of the last reigning Shah of Persia.
