Size: 199 cm x 130 cm Knots: 9 x 12 cm2, approx. total 2,794,000 Description: As in the last example the ground is flat woven, with undyed wefts, of silk; to created the 'sculpted' effect of the suf. Here the warps have an almost golden colour and the rug has short kilim ends. The suf technique provides a refreshing and elegant main ground with ivory and pale gold, supporting a finely delineated design of a multi-layered medallion, with flowers, blossoms and palmettes. The border has matching guardbands with small floral motifs, protecting a scrolling design of the main border which looks busy and hectic in contrast to the main field. |
