Type: Isfahan Wool on Silk, by Sirafian
Size: 236 cm x 144 cm
Knots: 9 x 11 cm2, approx. total 3,364,000
Description: This work is signed in the kilim end: baft-i Iran Isfahan Sirafian ('woven in Iran, Isfahan, Sirafian'). It is a very lovely and well balanced design.
The central medallion is surrounded by arabesques and vegetal motifs in indigo and madder on an ivory ground; the cornerpieces are so shaped as to form an ovoid and echo in colour and design the central medallion. Again the work is much influenced by the architecture of Safavid Isfahan, especially the Lutfallah mosque.
