Description: Mid-20th century. As in the previous example this superb rug takes its inspiration from the repertoire of designs developed especially in Isfahan. The
magnificent medallion and cornerpieces, with their blossoms in ivory and madder, stand against a main field of flowers on an indigo ground. The delightful border is mainly in madder with leaves and palmettes.
It is signed in the kilim end; baft-i Iran Isfahan Sorafoam ESFAJAM ('woven in Iran, Isfahan, Sirafian, ESFAHAN') whilst the other kilim end is stitched in red and blue. This is a superb example of the quality achieved by this prominent atelier.
