Type: Tabriz, Part Silk On Cotton Warps
Size: 190 cm x 141 cm
Knots: 8 x 8 cm2, approx. total 1,715,000
Description: Early 20th century. This lovely rug has a very impressive central star-burst medallion with reciprocating cornerpieces. The whole work uses the usual range
of colours subtlety set against each other. The strong border has a design of palmettes and rosettes between single guardbands. An unusual feature, and an indication of its quality, is that on the inner
quard of the shorter side is an inscription: Purnami; this is a proper name, which may be the master responsible for the work, or even the client who commissioned it.
