Description: Late 19th/early 20th century. This beautiful rug is in wool with part of the structure in silk. It has been created to a very high quality which is
reflected in the crispness of the design.
The main field with its madder ground has a fine central medallion complemented by the corner pieces. The field is filled with blossoms and tendrils, with palmettes and roses is a wide range of colours. The dark madder ground of the border supports a series of floral motifs, with some precisely drawn roses and the subtle use of sprays of white flowers which might be jasmines.
